OID overview

Some messages use OIDs: unique object identifiers. Mostly to refer to a system or organization that itself uses its own codes to identify its elements or members.

As a general rule, it is preferred to use an existing OID when possible. For example, in a HL7 CDA message, the system 'SNOMED-CT' needs to be identified by an OID. As this exists already (it is 2.16.840.1.113883.6.96 ), this is used.

This page lists the OIDs that were created and are managed by eHealth Platform. The root OID used by the eHealth Platform is registered under the OID root of HL7. These OIDs are created in support of messages and only when an OID does not yet exist.

HL7 FHIR messages prefer to use URI - some are also listed here according to the same logic as described for OIDs. As FHIR is an evolving and changing standard:  if you are planning to use the URI listed here in a FHIR message, please inform message-structure@ehealth.fgov.be

The specification of a message standard will always explicitly state when OIDs or URIs are used. This page only serves as a general overview.

The eHealth Platform root OID is 2.16.840.1.113883.3.6777.
